Research

IRES: Smart City Bamberg, Germany

Over the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of traveling to Bamberg, Germany along with fellow UW students and collaborating with the University of Bamberg and Professor Daniella Nicklas. Under the guidance of Professor Lagesse we partook in a Crowd Sensing Smart City Research Project.  

Bamberg is a great tourist attraction but suffers from overcrowding, leading to challenges for residents and the administration. The end goal of the project is to utilize Flowtrack Sensors (Wi-Fi probing sensors) to understand the flow of foot traffic so that residents can move across the city avoiding congestion. Similarly, the city can better plan for events and create a safer environment. 

Our preliminary research aims to understand how "Ground Truth" can be established - ensuring the number of people on the ground reflect the data collected - along with securing the system to potential flooding or DoS attacks.

SustainaBite: Connecting Resturants with Nonprofits

This project was built as part of the 2023 HackHarvard hackathon where my team and I built an application that connects restaurant owners with nonprofit organizations like homeless shelters and foodbanks. I have a passion for projects with a positive social impact and had a really fun time creating this application. You can read more about it on our Devpost or Github!

WellnessIQ: Health Monitoring

This is an application I helped develop as a Software Engineer intern at Gekko Corporation.

On average, individuals in the United States tend to seek medical attention 2-4 times per year. During these visits, healthcare professional typically records basic vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature. However, such data alone may not provide a complete understanding of an individual’s overall health status. Furthermore, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual appointments have become increasingly common, presenting challenges for healthcare providers in obtaining accurate vital sign measurements.

WellnessIQ is cross platform health monitoring application that extracts health data from wearables and IoT devices such as apple watches and Fitbits. Why not leverage the data collected from these devices to get allow healthcare professionals to get a better understanding of patients’ overall health? The application extracts data including heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, body temperature, sleep analysis, etc. This data is sent to our Splunk Db where ML algorithms analyze and categorize the data, identifying outliers and creating informative visualizations such as graphs and charts. Healthcare providers can use these visualizations to monitor their patients’ health trends, identify potential risks, and provide personalized recommendations for improving their patients’ health. 

I presented this project at the University of Washington, CSSE Capstone Colloquium where I won the Best Poster Award. You can check out my poster here!

Vibez Journal: Mood Tracking

This is an Application I had a really fun time creating. It helps users recognize connections between their daily activities and their mood, serving as a valuable tool for self-understanding. You can find it available for download on the App Store!
